La Flor Dominicana 25th Anniversary

La Flor Dominicana 25th Anniversary marks 25 years of Litto and Ines Gomez in the cigar business — a milestone that started not with La Flor Dominicana, but with a brand called Los Libertadores they launched in 1994, two years before LFD itself opened in Tamboril. Released in 2019 and packaged in a piano-lacquer black box of 25, the 25th Anniversary is a 7×52 Double Corona built around an Ecuadorian Corojo wrapper from higher primings of the plant — the same tobacco type that defines the Andalusian Bull, but pushed further. Halfwheel scored it 92 points and placed it on their Top 25 Cigars of the Year.

The Ecuadorian Corojo wrapper is the defining element of this blend. It's a medium-brown leaf with a sandy texture and subtle oils, and from a higher priming, it delivers more flavor and more punch than the standard Corojo expression. The binder and filler are both Dominican, grown on the Gomez family farms, which keeps the profile tight and under Litto's control from seed to shelf. The result is a medium-full cigar with complexity that builds over the full length of the Double Corona.

It opens with graham cracker sweetness and cedar on the cold draw. The first third brings black pepper, toasted nuts, and subtle citrus. The midpoint transitions through dark chocolate, leather, and wheat bread — an unusual combination that works. The finish in the final third is long and woodsy, with oak and earth and a sweet maple note on the retrohale. At 7 inches, this is a 90-minute smoke that earns every minute.
