The story of CLE Cigars is as much about authentic Corojo tobacco as it about cigars. Christian Eiroa’s family has been harvesting tobacco with a dedication to purity for over 100 years. He is a third-generation tobacco grower who believes just as his forebears did—that the only way to maintain the consistency of the product his family is known for is to continue to keep it in the family.
He founded CLE Cigars in 2012 (so named after the initials of his name, Christian Luis Eiroa) shortly after he sold his first successful brand, Camacho Cigars, which produced numerous 90+ rated blends. Christian’s cigar company was the answer to a question he often asked of himself: “What would you do if you were able to do it all over again?”
Production of CLE Cigars is located in the Valley of Jamastran in Honduras and is focused on creating exciting blends using the authentic Corojo tobacco the Eiroa family has long been known for. With the Chele, Connecticut, Corojo, and Signature series all receiving 90+ ratings from cigar critics, it’s evident Christian has a finger on the pulse of the cigar buying public and possesses a clear understanding of what cigar consumers are looking for.
CLE’s mission doesn’t simply begin and end with making good cigars. Christian puts the welfare of his employees before profits. He wants to make sure that the people who help make those products great are well taken care of. CLE Cigars also invests in its community by giving back through contributions to the Honduras Breast Cancer Foundation, an effort he believes will increase with time.
