Micallef Cigars

Micallef Cigars started with a broken-down van. In 2016, brothers Joel and Edel Gomez Sanchez — whose family has been rolling cigars since 1934 — were driving through Texas when their car broke down outside a Fort Worth lounge. Dr. Al Micallef happened to be there, tried their cigars, and a brand was born. Everything Micallef makes comes out of the Gomez Sanchez factory in Estelí, Nicaragua, where that three-generation relationship still drives every blend.

The lineup splits into two families. The Grande Bold series covers six distinct expressions built around different wrapper and filler combinations — from the full-strength Mexican San Andrés Black to the Brazilian Mata Fina Green — each offered in Robusto and Toro box-pressed formats at an accessible price. The Legacy series goes deeper: the Herencia Habano and Herencia Maduro, the Experiencia La Crema, the Connecticut, and the premium Leyenda, each a distinct blend with more age and complexity behind it.

Micallef is a Texas brand that punches above its weight at the price point. The Color Series especially — Black, Blue, Red, Purple, Green, White — is one of the better value plays in the store for everyday smoking.

Grande Bold Color Series

Six blends, same factory, same price. Each wrapper defines the experience. Black (Mexican San Andrés, full) → Blue (San Andrés Sumatra-seed, medium-full) → Red (San Andrés Habano, medium-full) → Purple (Sumatra + Habano blend, medium-full) → Green (Brazilian Mata Fina, medium) → White (Connecticut-seed, mild-medium).

Legacy Series

The original Micallef lineup — longer fermentation, more complexity, higher price. The Herencia Habano and Herencia Maduro are the workhorses. The Experiencia La Crema is the smoothest option in the catalog. The Leyenda is the premium top end.
