CAO Amazon Basin Extra Añejo

The CAO Amazon Basin Extra Añejo is the original Amazon Basin blend with two extra years in the aging room. CAO rolled these cigars and held them back instead of shipping them, letting the tobacco settle before the October 2026 release. This is the second run of Extra Añejo. The first one debuted in January 2023.

The blend is built around Brazilian Bragança, a tobacco native to the Amazon rainforest. Supply is small and irregular, which is why Amazon Basin has only ever been a limited release since CAO introduced it in 2014. An Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper covers a Nicaraguan binder, with Colombian and Dominican tobacco rounding out the filler. General Cigar makes it at STG Estelí in Nicaragua.

CAO describes the profile as earth and fruit. Expect that up front, with wood and a light spice behind it. The extra aging takes the rough edges off the regular release without muting the Bragança. Strength sits at medium-full.

Extra Añejo vs. Regular Amazon Basin

Same blend, same 6x52 Toro. The difference is time. The standard CAO Amazon Basin ships close to production and shows more grip and pepper.
