La Flor Dominicana Capitulo II

La Flor Dominicana Capitulo II is Antonio “Tony” Gomez’s second cigar, the direct follow-up to the Chapter One he released in 2013. Same format — the 6½×58 box-pressed Chisel, sold in 10-count boxes — but a completely different blend. Where Chapter One used a Brazilian Oscuro wrapper, Capitulo II goes with a Nicaraguan Colorado: a reddish-brown leaf that’s oilier and more complex than its darker counterparts, with a flavor profile that runs toward dried fruit, leather, and earth rather than the dark chocolate intensity of the Chapter One.

The name is Spanish for “Chapter Two” — pronounced cap-ee-TOO-lo dos. LFD used Spanish instead of English to avoid a conflict with another brand’s “Chapter Two” release from 2013. The Capitulo II was unveiled at the 2014 IPCPR trade show as a limited edition, packaged in the same 10-count boxes as its predecessor.

The Ecuadorian Habano binder adds body and spice alongside the Dominican ligero filler, which keeps the profile full and dense from first draw to finish. Notes of leather, black pepper, raisin sweetness, dried fruit, and charred wood develop through the smoke. The Colorado wrapper gives the Capitulo II a slightly warmer, sweeter character than the sharp intensity of Chapter One — still full-strength, but with more complexity in the mid-palate.

About the Chisel Format
