Macanudo Ecuadorian Shade is the most significant addition to the Macanudo core lineup in years — a wrapper-forward release built on a shared Dominican and Nicaraguan blend that lets the Ecuadorian Shade leaf do the talking. Handcrafted at STG Estelí and debuted at the 2026 PCA Trade Show in New Orleans, it lands as a smooth, approachable smoke with more refinement than the price suggests.

The blend underneath is straightforward and well-balanced: Dominican Piloto Cubano and Nicaraguan fillers bound with a U.S. Broadleaf binder. Macanudo built both the Ecuadorian Shade and its sibling Sumatra release on this same core, then let the wrapper define the experience. Here, a silky Ecuadorian Connecticut-seed leaf grown at altitude in the shade keeps everything clean and creamy — no harshness, minimal pepper, a light draw from start to finish.

Opens with cream and toasted cedar, mild and even. The middle third develops a quiet nuttiness — almond, light earth — without any significant strength shift. The finish is clean, slightly sweet, with a cedar linger. It's built for daytime smoking or pairing with something light. Medium smoke time, box-pressed construction, consistent burn.

Choosing Your Size

Toro Box-Pressed (6 x 50) — The only vitola we carry. The box-press gives a slightly firmer draw and a cooler smoke than round. At 60 minutes, it's long enough to develop through all three flavor phases without rushing. Good for a lunch break or post-round smoke.
