Perdomo Legacy Father & Son Nicaraguan Shade Grown

The Perdomo Legacy Father & Son Nicaraguan Shade Grown is Nick Perdomo Jr.'s blend, and the first time he has built a cigar around the hybrid leaf he spent years developing. His son used it as a wrapper on the regular Legacy. Here the father takes it back and does it his own way. Every leaf comes from 2011-2016 harvests, which is why this whole series is limited.

The hybrid is a Habano and Cameroon cross grown under shade at Finca Natalie in Esteli. Perdomo Jr. selected slightly lower primings than his son used on the regular Legacy, which produces a medium-colored leaf that is oilier and toothier, closer in appearance to a classic Cameroon wrapper. The hybrid runs as both wrapper and binder on this blend. Fillers come from Esteli, Condega, and Jalapa, all aged 10 to 15 years.

Those lower primings change the balance. Cameroon sweetness and spice sit out front through most of the cigar, with the Habano character showing up on the finish. Cedar and leather run underneath. It lands medium to full without punishing you.

About the Gran Figurado

Father & Son comes in one vitola across all three blends: a box-pressed Gran Figurado, 6 inches long, with the ring gauge stepping through 48, 60, and 52 along its length. The taper changes what the blend does as it burns. The narrow sections concentrate the smoke, the wide midsection opens it up. Perdomo builds the 50-count chests at its own box factory.

Which Father & Son Should You Smoke

All three share the same hybrid binder and the same aged filler. The Connecticut is the mild one, cedar and cream. The Maduro is the richest, cocoa and espresso with real body. This one is the closest look at the hybrid leaf itself, since it is the only blend in the set that wears it on the outside.
