Rocky Patel Dark Star

The Rocky Patel Dark Star launched at the 2023 PCA trade show, and its hook is one rare ingredient: a tobacco grown from a Paraguayan seed, a first for Rocky Patel. It's a medium-bodied, regular-production smoke under a dark, milk-chocolate-brown Honduran Corojo wrapper, built to drink smooth rather than hit hard.

A Honduran Corojo wrapper covers a Honduran binder and a filler of Honduran and Nicaraguan long-fillers from the Jamastran Valley and Jalapa — plus the single Paraguayan-seed leaf, transplanted to Honduras and grown by the Plasencia family. That leaf is where the nutty almond note comes from. Rolled at the El Paraiso factory in Danlí, Honduras.

The profile leads with dark chocolate, espresso, and cocoa, backed by dried fruit, cedar, and almond, with light pepper underneath. Rocky tested 63 blends to land it, aiming for something "Cubanesque" — the flavors run rich and dark while the strength stays approachable.

Choosing Your Size

Robusto (5.5x50) — The most concentrated and the quickest way into the chocolate-and-espresso core.

Toro (6x52) — The balanced middle, with room for the dried fruit and almond to come through.

Sixty (6x60) — The widest ring and the slowest, coolest burn. The fullest smoke output of the three.
