Rocky Patel Sapphire

The Rocky Patel Sapphire is the cigar Rocky built to follow Emerald, and he raised the tobacco to do it. A dark Mexican San Andrés wrapper sits over a dual binder and an all-Nicaraguan filler, with one detail that matters: nearly every leaf comes from Patel's own farms. The fillers run six to seven years old, which is what pushes Sapphire past its predecessor into a richer, more refined smoke.

Under the wrapper sit two binders working together — one from Estelí, one from the Jamastran Valley in Honduras. The Jamastran leaf is the new piece. Patel had owned that farm three years before he had aged stock worth rolling, and Sapphire is the first blend to use it. The filler is Nicaraguan through and through: Estelí, Jalapa, and Condega.

It smokes medium to full. Espresso and coffee bean lead, with a caramel sweetness off the San Andrés and a creamy finish. Earth and a subtle spice sit underneath, but the aged filler keeps the strength in check without thinning the flavor.

Choosing Your Size

Corona Gorda (6x46) — The most focused of the three. Tighter ring, higher wrapper-to-filler ratio, so the San Andrés sweetness reads stronger. 45–60 minutes.

Toro (6½x52) — The middle ground, and the one most people reach for. Balanced burn, a full hour-plus of the espresso-and-caramel core.

Sixty (6x60) — Widest ring, coolest and slowest burn. The fullest, richest expression of the blend, with the most time to develop.
