Romeo y Julieta Reserva Real Nicaragua Profundo is a Nicaraguan puro built around a single distinguishing leaf: an extra-fermented oscuro wrapper grown on A.J. Fernandez's farms that pushes the classic Reserva Real profile into darker, fuller territory.

The Reserva Real line started in the Dominican Republic, went Nicaraguan in 2020 with the Reserva Real Nicaragua, and now goes deeper with the Profundo. Altadis brought back the same team — Fernandez on the tobacco, Rafael Nodal on the blend — with one specific mandate: richer and more intense, without losing the smoothness the line is known for. The extra fermentation on the oscuro wrapper is how they got there.

The blend is an all-Nicaraguan puro from first leaf to last. The wrapper, binder, and filler all come from Fernandez's farms in Estelí, Jalapa, and Condega. The tobacco is the same source as the original Reserva Real Nicaragua — the difference is what the extended fermentation does to that dark outer leaf.

It opens on roasted coffee and dark chocolate with earth underneath. Through the middle, black pepper picks up and dried fruit and a hint of molasses sweetness come through. The finish is smooth for the strength level. Medium to full body throughout, consistent burn on all three vitolas.

Choosing Your Size
Robusto (5 x 50) — The shortest smoke of the three. Good entry point for the blend; the oscuro wrapper reads slightly more prominent in a compact format.
Toro (6 x 54) — Extra ring gauge opens up the draw and smooths the pepper. The best balance of flavor development and smoke time.
Churchill (7 x 50) — Long and narrow, this vitola stretches the flavor arc out and lets the molasses sweetness build more gradually. Best for slow smokers.
