Brandon’s Thoughts: In a world of higher prices, it’s nice to find a little value. The 95-rated San Cristobal Quintessence took home the #3 Cigar of the Year honors in 2021 with all sizes under $10. It was blended for Ashton by Pepin and Jaime Garcia at their famous My Father Cigars S.A. factory in Estelí, Nicaragua. While I think the Garcias create some of the best cigars on the market - I always start with the concern that their blends may be too spicy for my tastes. The spice on San Cristobal Quintessence isn’t overwhelming. Instead the white pepper spice is balanced with notes of honey and coffee. The strength hits me just above medium, meaning I can feel the nicotine, but it doesn’t bother me. While the Quintessence isn’t my normal profile, it is a cigar that I definitely enjoy. I think it is a great example of the talent of the Garcias and they My Father team. You can definitely taste the quality of their family grown Nicaraguan tobacco being used. If you find yourself a fan of slightly spicy Nicaraguan cigars - I don’t think you can go wrong with the San Cristobal Quintessence. Quality, flavor and sound construction at a great price. Pairing: Michter's 10 Year Old Single Barrel RyeStrength: Medium+Tasting Notes: white pepper, honey, coffee and dried fruit.

Smooth rich cigar

All of San Cristobals are smooth and rich. Under the Ashton umbrella quality cigars for the price.

san cristobal quintessence

These cigars have great flavor and that's why I bought a bunch.

Unfortunately, several of them had trouble with the draw and I had to "wrestle" with them trying to unplug them.
