Brandon’s Thoughts: It's hard for me to believe Ernesto could top the success he's had with both La Historia and Encore, introduced in 2014 and 2016 - but never doubt him. The E.P Carrillo Pledge was named the number one cigar in the world by Cigar Aficionado before I even had the opportunity to smoke it. Since then I've been able to snag a few for myself and I have to admit, I'm impressed. The Pledge uses a Connecticut habano wrapper covering an Ecuadorian binder and filler tobaccos grown in Nicaragua. It starts out mild with noticeable spice, but as the intensity builds more flavors develop. It offers a strong hint of black pepper that's a little aggressive at first, but as the notes of leather, earth and dark roast coffee develop the pepper seems far well balanced. This is a cigar that I didn't pay a lot of attention to until it took the #1 spot - now I will likely add it to my rotation.

Pledge in Sojurn….. I put this on par with the Liga H99.
Right from the start you get rich Coffee,dark Chocolate and leather. The smoke is creamy and fairly dense. This one builds as you go but never becomes too bold. I smoke it down to the nub..
Best smoked in the late afternoon or evening and pairs well with a Jammy Zin (particularly with Lodi Zin “CIGAR” 2019) and whiskey’s. Goes great with Rum or Coffee as well.
One of my all time favorite cigars. When I feel the need for a special cigar, this one always satisfies.
