Rocky Patel went from Los Angeles attorney to one of the most recognized names in premium cigars. Every blend under his name reflects a focus on craftsmanship, aging, and consistency. At Renegade Cigars, you'll find his full line — including a blend he built with us that you can't buy anywhere else.
A Bold Beginning
Rocky Patel practiced entertainment and product-liability law in Los Angeles in the early 1990s. A friend introduced him to cigars, he fell for them, and after becoming a founding member of the Grand Havana Club he was approached about producing his own brand. He launched the Indian Tabac brand into a fast-growing market.
The 1990s saw a major cigar boom, and Indian Tabac was a small operation up against multimillion-dollar companies. Rocky bet on bold blends and vivid packaging, and it paid off at the 1996 Retail Tobacco Dealers of America trade show, where crowds lined up to try what he had built.
Building the Rocky Patel Brand
When the boom faded, Rocky kept going. He changed the company name to Rocky Patel Premium Cigars in 2003 and launched the Vintage series — the Vintage 1990 and Vintage 1992, named for the harvest year of their aged wrapper tobacco. The Vintage line became the foundation of the brand.
The catalog grew from there: the Decade for his tenth anniversary, The Edge for full-strength smokers, the Sixty for his sixtieth birthday, and award winners like the Emerald and the White Label. Each one is a distinct blend built for a specific palate, not a variation on a single house recipe.
The Perfect Timing — A Renegade Exclusive

Our owner, Brandon Hayes, worked directly with Rocky and Nish Patel to build the Perfect Timing and Perfect Timing Habano — two blends with vitolas named after watches, made for and sold exclusively by us. Frequently Asked Questions
How does Rocky Patel keep quality and consistency so high?
Rocky Patel cigars are known for their consistency and construction. Each one goes through multiple hand inspections, long fermentation, and aging in climate-controlled conditions before it ships. That seed-to-smoke control is why the blends taste the same box after box.
Are there limited edition or special release Rocky Patel cigars?
Yes. Rocky Patel releases limited editions regularly, often tied to milestones — the annual Winter Collection, the zodiac "Year of" releases, and high-end cigars like the Conviction. They tend to use rarer tobaccos and are made in small quantities. Renegade receives allocation on many of these, so check the collection or ask in the shop.
Are Rocky Patel cigars hand-rolled?
Yes. Every Rocky Patel premium cigar is 100% hand-rolled by experienced torcedores, most at the TAVICUSA factory in Estelí, Nicaragua. Hand-rolling is what gives them their even draw and consistent burn from light to finish.
